In this paper, we collected 65 photographs of females in the Meiji era and estimated sizes of 16 items on female body including stature, chest breadth and limb length, using the photographs as materials. As a result of quantitative analysis of them the females in the Meiji era had a narrower shoulder, a broad lower trunk and shorter limbs, comparing to modem females. Furthermore, we divided those females into three groups, Geiko girls who were entertainers, models for photos showing things Japanese, and girls from good families, and compared with each other. It showed that there were obvious differences among the three groups. The Geiko girls who were ideal beauties of those days had a small face, slim body and higher body parts and their figure was most similar to that of modern females. Whereas the photo models had a larger face and a wider trunk and the daughters of good families had a cylindrical torso with body parts in lower positions.
