It is said that the origin of the shell fish culture in Japan was oyster, hard clam and pearI oyster culturing in 1615 to 1780. In the present time, the technique of shell fish rearing has been reformed due to the hanging culture method with raft by Drs. SENOH and HORI's invention. Other inventions of shell fish culture were the collector of deposite shell larvae (spatfall) with net bag, and hanging culture method of middle layer with longline. The shell fish products by fishing in Japan is 311,000 tons in average, including cultured products 29,500 tons. The cultured products is lately increasing little by little. Some studies conceming to fisheries engineering in the last 20 years are to be cleared the mechanism of planctonic larvae accumlation with mathematics.
