The paper reports on the correlation between laser outputs and striations in the following aspects: (1) an increase in the laser output associated with a decrease in the striation intensity in the running state of a discharge, (2) hysteresis curves of the laser outputs vs. discharge current, and (3) variation of neutral gas temperature. It is shown to be effective to maintain the temperature of neutral gas high, in order to increase the laser intensity while suppress the striation. Asynchronous external control of striations was also tried, which however did not enhance the laser power but made striation noise in the laser more monochromatic.
