This study involves an evaluation of the development of a Japanese version of the Multidimensional Co-parenting Scale for Dissolved Relationships (MCS-DR-J) and its reliability and validity. The participants included 175 custodial parents and 149 non-custodial parents, who were raising children (under 20 years old) within five years of their divorce, with continued visitation practices (at least once a month). Exploratory factor analysis revealed that the MCS-DR-J consisted of four factors, similar to the original version. Confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the MCS-DR-J had an acceptable good fit to the model (CFI = .964, RMSEA = .055, SRMR = .078, GFI = .960, AGFI = .921) as well as sufficient internal consistency (α = .71 ― .89) and acceptable intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC (1, 1) = .72 ― .81). In addition, correlations with the Japanese version of the Coparenting Relationship Scale (CRS-J) and a welch-test between custodial parents and non-custodial parents was examined. The results generally supported the reliability and validity of the MCS-DR-J.
