The mean serum alkaline phosphatase (A1-P) values in female AMHTS examinees past middle age were found to be much higher than those in males. Of all 18 routine biochemical items including Al-P, at least 12 showed common characteristic tendencies in the blood-level diagrams by sex and age. Also in most individual cases, a remarkable difference between Al-P values before and after menopause was confirmed. Serum Al-P, Ca and inorganic P values varied with the phases in the sexual cycle and by the presence and regularity of menstruation. The results of the Al-P isozyme study pointed to bone metabolism.
