This study aims to clarify the impact of selected sentence-level and word-level factors on stuttering in free conversation among Japanese elementary school children who stutter(CWS).We examined 17 Japanese CWS(age: 6-11 years)and collected spontaneous utterances in free conversations. Binomial logistic regression analysis was performed. With respect to sentence-level factors, sentence length significantly influenced stuttering, but syntactic complexity did not. With respect to word-level factors, the syllable structure of the bunsetsu-onset position, bi-mora frequency, and bunsetsu length significantly influenced the occurrence of stuttering. With respect to the other factors, utterance position significantly affected the occurrence of stuttering (p=0.000).Additionally, the impact of sentence length was the smallest among the significant predictors of stuttering. Based on these results, we consider that the occurrence of stuttering is more affected by word-level factors rather than sentencelevel factors in the free conversation of Japanese elementary school CWS.
