Purpose: The purpose of this study is to understand the experience of husbands becoming fathers welcoming a first baby with their wives.
Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten husbands becoming first-time fathers, and the interview data were analyzed using the Modified Grounded Theory Approach (M-GTA).
Results: The experience of husbands becoming fathers welcoming a first baby with their wives started with ‘life with a pregnant wife at a trial-and-error state’. At the opportunity to stabilize such a trial-and-error state when they have ‘realized that their babies are growing’ and discovered ‘a turning point for empathizing with their wives’, husbands tried ‘adjusting to family-first roles’, and finally achieved holding ‘positive expectations for gaining solidarity with their wives’.
Discussion: It was found that husbands becoming first-time fathers were emotionally unstable in the early pregnancy periods of the wives. This suggests the importance of providing support to have opportunities for such husbands to interact with others who have experienced pregnancies.

This study aimed to describe the experiences of social support for parents of twins during the first four months after childbirth. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 22 parents of twins and the collected data were analyzed qualitatively and inductively. The following eight themes were extracted: appreciating time for myself while struggling to raise twins, gratitude for and/or dissatisfaction with others close at hand while struggling to raise twins, confidence in my parenting style that values each twin through cooperation and coparenting, feeling apologetic and gratitude toward others for coparenting or involvement in raising twins, satisfaction with and desire for professional or informative child-rearing support for myself and my twins, sharing child-rearing experiences and utilizing information by interacting with other parents of twins, confidence in raising twins as a couple, and utilization of multiple resources for raising twins as a couple. These results suggest the necessity of nursing support for parents of twins and their families from pregnancy onward, including providing specific information on child-rearing after childbirth, promoting further understanding of the need for support, and providing a place where they can discuss their concerns and worries.
