The effect of granular size on the preference of samples was examined by preparing patties from three kinds of ground meat, i.e., beef, pork and chicken, which had been passed through one of five plates with orifice diameters of 2.4 - 9.6mm. The difference in preference according to the granular size of the pork and beef samples were large, while that of chicken was small. The consistency by the panelists in their granular size preference for the pork samples was higher than that for the beef samples, but the preference for the chicken was inconsistent. The patties of the most-preferred granular size were those prepared from ground meat that had been passed through a plate with an orifice diameter of 3.4 or 4.8 mm. This result indicated that the preference was related the physical properties of the patties.

As we usually use a skincare cosmetic, moist lotion and milk lotion, for 1 to 2 months or longer, we have to evaluate repeatedly on a certain term for the development of the skincare cosmetics. Also, when evaluating skincare cosmetics, not only the “Touch” but also the “Feel” and “Affection” are important factors. Therefore, we have conducted studies to evaluate the emotional changes caused by the use of skincare cosmetics. Accordingly, we attempted to catch the affection and evaluation which changes within the long-term use. As a result, at the first time that the user uses skincare products, the “Touch” is the most important factor, whereas the factors change to the “Affection” or “Effect on skin”, etc., as time passes. This result suggests that an evaluator’s criterion changes in a long-term use. It is considered that this is an important factor for developing not only cosmetics but any products.

It has been well known that a room with a bright color is perceived larger than that with a dark color. In this report, we examined whether the pattern of wallpaper itself could affect the perceived size of a room. We measured the apparent size of the room having stripes on the walls; a miniature room (Exp.1) or a real room (Exp.2). The orientation of the stripes was horizontal or vertical. We found that the room with horizontal stripes looked wider (Exp.2) or wider and deeper (Exp.1) than that with vertical stripes, but that the room with horizontal stripes looked shorter in the height than that with vertical stripes (Exp.1).
