Evaluation of DLC coatings is explained below. The first one is evaluation of the failure mode of DLC coatings using a continuous load increasing sliding test. The second one is the relationship of forming tribo-chemical reaction film and reduction of friction, caused by the interaction between DLC coatings and chemical components contained in lubricants.

This article explains the tribological evaluation technologies for hard coatings such as diamond-like carbon(DLC), chromium nitride(CrN), and titanium nitride(TiN), including pin-on-disk tests,scratch tests, and load-carrying capacity tests. In particular, we summarize the trends of actual measurement data from the perspectives of wear resistance, peeling resistance, and load-carrying capacity,which are important characteristics of hard coatings.

Outline of oscillation type tribo-tester SRV was explained. Meanwhile, in development of press working oils, the simulator which can evaluate processing properties of oils is necessary for a laboratory level. Therefore, the tester which was developed for adhesion simulation on drawing and ironing process was evaluated in this paper.

In this paper, we introduce a friction test apparatus for tactile evaluation that utilizes an artificial skin mimicking a human finger and a driving mechanism imitating human tactile movements. It is expected that this apparatus can obtain useful frictional information for estimating tactile sensation by conducting friction tests with smooth movements similar to those of humans. We explain the usefulness of this test apparatus in tactile perception based on examples of evaluatable friction parameters.
