RuO
2-Ta
2O
5 catalytic coatings (Ru=30 mol%) for oxygen evolution were prepared by thermal decomposition at 260
℃, 300
℃, and 500
℃. The crystallographic, surface morphological, and electrochemical properties of the coatings were investigated by X-ray diffraction, SEM, cyclic voltammetry, and chronopotentiometry. The XRD and SEM results revealed that RuO
2 in the coating has less crystallinity with decreasing thermal decomposition temperature and the amorphization of RuO
2 occurs at 260
℃. The amorphous coating accelerated oxygen evolution in H
2SO
4 solutions with the increase in double layer charge and showed lower oxygen evolution potential than amorphous IrO-TaO coatings.
