At present, it is becoming difficult for a single dentist to apply highly specialized knowledge and techniques in each part such as root canal treatment, orthodontic treatment, implant therapy, periodontal treatment, prosthetics, etc. as in the past. In Europe and the USA, a specialized doctor system has been established, but in Japan there is still relatively little history, and in some areas treatment is often performed alone. However, having a team of dentists has the advantage of being able to re-evaluate each other after treatment, which reduces errors. The oral cavity that got into the condition is complicated. I think that it is the way of the future dental treatment that diagnosis and treatment plan which affect treatment result are formulated and discussed while trial and error while discussing.

The ultimate goal of clinical dentistry is restoration and improvement of the stomatognathic function, and health maintenance and enhancement. In order to accomplish this goal, it is important to appropriately proceed with the comprehen- sive diagnosis, the treatment planning, and the treatment in line with the concept of interdisciplinary approach. However, even if functional restoration was well achieved, when the restored condition has not been maintained for a long period of time, it cannot be said that an appropriate treatment was provided. That is, obtaining optimum longevity is important. Considering the longevity from three points of view: ( 1 ) maintaining healthy tooth; ( 2 ) maintaining the prosthesis; ( 3 ) simple prosthetic re-intervention is more clinical. The key words to achieve these three points are “maxillary arch integrity” and stable intercuspal position.

Recently, CAD/CAM ceramic restorations has been widespread and considered as a standard procedure in esthetic rehabilitation. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the intraoral scanner equipped with the shade matching system. The data acquired from two different devices (the intraoral scanner, the color-measuring devices) considerably matched. ∆E dur- ing repeated color measurements by the same operator indicated no significant difference and the data from the five operators were not significantly different, either. Our findings suggested that the intraoral scanner has a useful color analysis system and could facilitate the esthetic restorations.

In modern restorative dentistry, where digital technology and adhesive dentistry have developed, it is predicted that in the future, attention will be focused on MI esthetics (BIO esthetics), digital dentistry, microscope, and facially generated treat- ment planning (smile design). In this paper, based on these trends, we have described the interdisciplinary approach and the latest techniques for laminate veneer restoration, which has been carried out by applying both digitality to both chairside and labside. In addition, prior to bonding operation, academic consideration was also made on pretreatment for bonding between enamel and ceramic.
