Reverse logistics is the movement of used products from consumers towards re-processors (re-manufacturers/ recyclers) within a supply chain. Possible drivers for companies interested in used products are recoverable value through re-processing, environmental regulations, product stewardship, and asset protection. Any reverse supply chain consists of at least three parties: collection centers where consumers return used products, recovery facilities where re-processing is performed, and demand centers where customers buy re-processed goods viz., output of recovery facilities. Strategic planning (also called designing) is long-range planning and is typically performed every few years when a supply chain needs to expand its capabilities. This paper suggests approaches for some crucial issues in strategic planning of a reverse supply chain.

This paper deals with socio-cultural influence on protection of personal data and privacy in Japan and its meanings for Japanese business. The enforcement of the Act for Protection of Personal Data in April 2005 has prompted broad recognition that Japanese firms, which collect, store and use personal data, should enhance their effort in protecting personal data and privacy as a part of development of their social responsibility. However, Japanese socio-cultural characteristics related to the notion of privacy tend to make ordinary Japanese people consider protection of privacy is identical to compliance with the Act. This would distort Japanese firms' ways of approaching protection of personal data and privacy and result in putting Japanese firms as well as Japanese economy in jeopardy in the global business environment.

This paper discussed the quantitative effect of the WBT (Web Based Teaching) system in a large class and improvement of a teaching method in the WBT environment. To evaluate the performance of the WBT, we investigate two relations between final examination and questionnaires in class, and between the former one and learning records. Some results of analysis showed that a motivation of student influences final examination. More effective operation under the WBT environment was proposed and its validity for the increase of education performance was proved.
