International trade contributes to balancing the economic disparities among nations, while trade liberalization has also caused adverse effects in emerging countries by diminishing natural capital. Regarding infectious diseases, human capital protection measures improve human well-being beyond sustaining economic activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, natural capital plays a vital role in influencing the degree of virus transmission. Future international trade requires investments considering inclusive wealth to achieve a sustainable society.

I overview institutions of border carbon adjustments (BCAs) and analyze the effects of BCAs theoretically. EU plans to implement Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), which will be applied to imports only. There is the debate that the CBAM should contain export rebates. I use a model of international oligopoly to examine whether BCAs should contain export rebates as well as carbon tariffs for preventing carbon leakage and reducing global emissions. My results suggest that export rebates should be included in the CBAM if the carbon intensities of firms and the market sizes significantly differ between EU and its trading partners.

The study aimed to examine the Brazilian government’s approach to climate change and deforestation issues, in addition to the types of international relationships formed from these issues.
In the 21st century, climate change is a major global problem. Nearly 50% of Brazil’s GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions originate from land use conversion. This includes the agricultural sector, which accounts for nearly 80% of emissions. In contrast, emission sources differ in developed countries. Therefore, we consider the drivers of emission sources of emerging countries.

This is mainly because some theories assume unrealistic FX market structure and/or lack of relevant data. Given that, this paper is intended to reveal the structure of foreign exchange market and by using new dataset (CLS flow data), to set out a course for creating a model which better reflects the reality of foreign exchange market.
