In recent years, many hospitals, schools, and rehabiritation centers are adjusted for speech handicaps. But the speech therapists are not insufficiency for the about 1400 thousands persons as conjecture in japan. The object of this study is the development of the microcomputer system for the inspection of vocalization which is the most basic ability to speaking. The system calculate the sound power, the pitch frequency and formant frequency of input sound from microphone. After that, it display the energy, pitch and formant to CRT. And it display the sound's characteristic for compare the normal sound's characteristic with it's for the diagnosis.

We compared the column chromatograph patterns of alcoholic patients with those of healthy volunteers. Human Urine obtained from healthy male volunteers and alcoholic male patients was analyzed by means of high performance liquid chromatography using ion exchange column(3013-N, Hitachi). The solutions used in the column were ion exchage water(A solution)and 0.25M ammonium perchlorate PH5.8-acetonitrile(4: 1)(B solution). The elutin diagram was from 0% to 20% B solution during 0-40min and from 20% to 100% B solution during 40-60min and 100% B solution during 60-70min and 100% Asolution during 70-100min. Two kinds of detector system were used. By using fixed wavelength we monitored the absorption at 254nm and by using multi-channel detector we adjusted the wavelength range from 200nm to 400nm. With the fixed wavelength the peaks which were not observed in the healthy volunteers appeared in the alcoholic patients and the peaks which were observed in the healthy volunteers disppeared in the alcoholic patients. This result was supported by the findings obtained from the multi channel detector in which the peaks from alcoholic patients disappeared or appeared in other wavelengths.

The importance of the speech training for the speech disorders had been advocated in the past but the lack of the training specialist and the fact that the training itself required considerably extended period hampered the opportunity to endow sufficient training for individuals. The authors have been engaging in the development work for a new composite speech training system which is capable to be used us a self-training device also in order to meet above mentioned situations. This paper reports on the guidance program and the actual training models operable by any amateur other than speech training specialists, which was developed for the training of hearing impaired children.

In these several years, the number of aged people in Japan has increased, and for some other reasons, there has risen the problem of people who take care of the bedridden patients in daily life. And it is.expected that this kind of probkem would be more serious in the future. As one solution to the this problem, we've developed some manipulator systems which aid the nursing of bedridden patients. But the traditional manipulator is not powerful enough to be used in practice. In order to overcome this disadvantage in power, we developed a new type manipulator which is more powerful than the traditional one, by using the wire-driving mechanism. This mechanism has been thought to be useless, because the length of wire changes as the load changes, and it is difficult to know the precise position of the end effector. This time, we have solved this problem by putting high resolution encoders at each joint and sensing the displacement of the joints directly. As the result, we succeeded in developing a new type manipulator more powerful than the traditional one. And for controllability, we took the dual-PID control algorithm and improved the controlling characteristic.

Nystagmus measurement is quite useful and popular for equilibrium function test. To measure it, several kinds of methods. for example, Electro-Nystagmography(ENG, orEOG) are developed and clinically used. But they have some problems. To solve those problems, such as the drift or noise on the output signal, or the improper restriction of the free movement of the subject's body and eyeball, we propose the following new measuring method. We adopted the magnetic measuring method, and constructed a prototype system. In this system, a set of magnetic sensors detects magnetic flux density of the magnetic contact lens. worn on the eyeball of the subject And using this system, we confirm the availability of this system.

A variety of biosensors have been developed for thedetermination of substance of clinical importance, since Clark-type oxygen electrode-based enzyme sensors were demonstrated. For the practical applicationof biosensors, microfabrication of enzyme electrodes is very important because biosensors with the easy handling and disposable usage can be attained easily by miniaturization techniques. Here glucose oxidase has been taken as the enzyme to be immobilized, and the enzyme product, hydrogen peroxide, is oxidized by the electrode matrix. Therefore, the amperometric signal of the micro-enzyme electrode is related to the concentration of glucose. The 100% response of the micro-enzymese nsoris no longer than 3sec, and the determinable range for glucose is from 5x 10-7 to 10-2mol/1. The time stability of the sensors are satisfactory: The sensor response to 1mM glucose is within ±2%for several weeks. We have developed a unique electrochemical fabrication technique, simultaneous platinization and immobilization of enzyme molecules. In this technique enzyme is incorporated into electrolyte solution and is embodied on the growing surface of platinized platinum during electrolysis .

The purpose of this paper is to present a new data analysis method for analysing walking patterns measured by the force plates. The proposed method is based on a new mathematical tool so called the Cartesian space theory, and is applicable to find the essential feature parameters which separate between two categories: normal gait and abnormal gait. Especially, in our method, we can visualize the rehabilitation process of a lower extremity handicapped human as a time sequential pattern in the two or three dimensional Cartesian space.
