Sign Language studies at present are based on linguistics of vocal languages. This paper proposes the new constituents corresponding to phoneme and morpheme, which will help to study visual language.
Analysis of pointing in JSL, comparing them with the demonstrative pronouns in Japanese and English. The threshold of the movement of pointing is defined kinetically by mocap data. The overt/covert significance of pointing is shown which is to be a part of JSL semantics
Sign Language studies at present focus on a sign languages of the Deaf. JSL actually consists of variety of historical and social variants. This paper focus on the speakers and their social background at home, at school, in a region or in the nation.
