We investigated the possibility of enjoying eating enhancing the learning attitude and motivation and health in elementary school children. A questionnaire was conducted among elementary school children (the fifth or sixth grade). We divided 711 responses, being suitable for analysis, into 3 groups according to the level of enjoying eating. The highest enjoyable group had more positive learning attitudes (4.4±1.8 in 8 items), less negative learning attitudes (1.6±1.3 in 5 items), and less indeterminate symptoms (3.9±3.1 in 15 items) than the lowest enjoyable group (positive learning attitudes : 2.8±1.7 items, negative learning attitudes : 2.4±1.4 items, and indeterminate symptoms : 6.3±3.6 items). The respective differences were significant. These results suggested that enjoying eating had positive effects on the learning attitude and motivation and health in elementary school children. This survey revealed the importance of dietary education to promote enjoying eating in elementary school children.
