Until now, most of the research on same-sex partnership systems has been conducted overseas (especially in Europe and the United States), and has largely focused on the opinions of those who approve of the systems. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate public comments received by local governments that launched same-sex partnership systems in Japan during the period from January to July 2022, and to clarify the “reasons for opposition” of those who oppose the systems. Through the survey, we attempted to extract the important points of view of those who have tended to be labeled as “discriminatory” simply because they are opposed to the system, and to present the viewpoints that need to be examined in the future. The survey results showed that opposition could be classified into 16 categories, and that the most frequently cited opposition was not prejudice against the people concerned, but rather “concerns about the speed of introduction of the system and lack of information/discussion,” indicating a strong sense of anxiety about the system being introduced without sufficient discussion.

This paper discusses, the paradigm changes in the domain of education for children with physical disability, which-occurred in the early to late 1970s. The purpose is to articulate the controversy between the people who worked in the area of medicine and education, and explain the reason why it occurred based on the information in the magazine “Education for Children with Physical Disability”. Post-war education for children with physical disability was targeted at children with mild physical disability, and medical treatment was the primary purpose. In the early to late 1960s, the number of children with cerebral palsy increased as schools for children with physical disability were established. In the mid-1970s, cerebral palsy children accounted for about 70% of the students at schools for children with physical disability. As a result of the shift from children who could be cured to children who could not be cured, the paradigm of education for children with physical disability changed from medical care to education. This paradigm change brought about the natural consequence that schools would take the lead in education for children with physical disability at schools, but there was also strong opposition from medical professionals. Currently, the importance of cooperation between education and medical care is being emphasized at schools, where the number of children with medical care needs is increasing. Based on the history of the paradigm change in the past, the importance of future cooperation between education and medical care on an equal status is stressed in this paper.

This article describes the process of acquiring all the 257 issues of the journal “ Education for Children with Physical Disabilities “, which were obtained as part of the Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research “Finding the Way of Life - Construction of the Body × Social Archive”. It also explains the data conversion work of the table of contents into digital information, which is currently underway. The first issue of “ Education for Children with Physical Disabilities “ was published in February 1970 as an official journal of the Japanese Society for the Study of Education for Children with Physical Disabilities, and it is still being published today (No. 257 was published in November,2022.). This journal is useful and valuable in providing an overview of what kind of educational practice and educational research have been done in Japanese education for children with physical disabilities since the 1970s, in the context of changes in target children and social conditions. The digitization of the table of contents will greatly contribute to the future development of educational research for the education for children with physical disabilities.

How support for autism and related disorders in Japan took shape, particularly at its start in the 1960s, and the movement of parents of children with autism and institutions providing support for them is not well understood. In this paper I focus on “Asunaro Gakuen” (established within Takachaya Hospital in Mie Prefecture in 1964 and reorganized in 2017), the only specialized institution for autistic children in Japan at the time, and conduct an overview of documents classified as “petitions, written requests, and briefs” from preserved “parents and staff association” documents recently discovered in a storehouse belonging to a later parents’ association. I found that the parents’ association was responsible for the movement to create an institution as a focal point of support for autism and related disorders. In future I will examine this topic while shedding light on the movement of the staff and parents’ association of Asunaro Gakuen, practices regarding autism and related disorders throughout Japan, and the trend toward various forms of systemization. Concretely, while adding further explanation to my commentary in this paper I will examine and analyze these materials in the light of later trends (and other elements) and relate them to issues regarding future practice.
