This study investigated how properties of precedent stimuli affect the perceived temporal duration for the following stimuli by the use of an experimental methodology similar to a previous study’s, which found cue recruitment in depth perception (Backus & Haijiang, 2007). Participants viewed movies (Experiment 1) or static images (Experiment 2), which lasted for various durations. Each participant conducted 250 training trials and 250 test trials in alternation. In the training trials, duration of the movies or static images was consistent with retinal location. In the test trials, participants judged whether the duration of the stimuli, which were presented at one of the alternative locations in random order, corresponds to the short or long criteria. Results of two experiments showed no sign of cue recruitment based on Bayesian rule concerning with the stimulus location, while perceived duration was modulated by the duration of the immediately precedent stimulus in a contrasting manner.
Is color vision deficiency a handicap to coloring? To approach this question, we experimentally examined colors used by individuals with color vision deficiency in coloring tasks. We converted 25 referring object images to line drawing images, and created the experimental program for coloring tasks. Participants colored each area of the line drawing stimuli to obtain the same color while referring to the image. The results revealed that the participants with color vision deficiency selected colors similar to those of normal vision for more images than expected, whereas they used different colors for images with long wavelength colors or low saturation.
技術の発展により,バーチャルリアリティやアシストロボットなどの装置を用いて人間の身体能力が向上し,拡張する研究が注目されている.特に身体が不自由な人や,運動障害を持つ人のためのアシストやリハビリテーション手法の開発が進んでいる.本講演では,バーチャルリアリティやアシストロボットを利用するユーザの運動主体感に焦点を当て,身体拡張が運動主体感に与える影響を調べた研究を紹介する.身体拡張を行うと,自分の行動と異なる感覚入力を受けるため,運動主体感が低下してしまうことが多いが,身体運動のパフォーマンスに対してポジティブな介入を行った場合には,運動主体感を向上させ,身体表象の更新を促進できることが示されている.さらに,運動主体感に着目したリハビリ装置の提案や,人間の認知特徴を踏まえたシステム設計に関する研究も紹介する.
