Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) has become increasingly popular as one of the most effective ways of acquiring foreign language in Japan. The aim of this paper is to analyze some CLIL practices involving practical skill subjects in Italy and give useful suggestions to English education in Japanese elementary schools. As a kind of scaffolding for understanding, Multiple Intelligences (MI) theory is applied to these CLIL classes. The result of the study reveals that CLIL with MI will stimulate individual interests in content, promote language use, enhance cognitive faculty and lead to active learning.
