The possibility has been investigated to remove floating fibers and to regulate an inputtension simultaneously by using pneumatic suction. In the experimental arrangement, yarns running from the yarn bobbin to the yarn feeder of the knitting machine were covered with the yarn guide tube connected to the bobbin case.
Results obtained are as follows :
As to regulating input tensions,
1) The input tension could be easily regulated by setting the air speed,
2) The variance of an input tension was very small, and
3) The regulation of an input tension was expected to be useful for weft-knitting and for jacquard-knitting.
As to removing floating fibers,
1) No floating fibers flied out during the yarn unwinding and the yarn running, and
2) Floating fibers in the knitting zone were almost completely removed by using the yarn feeder with a suction nozzle.
