The tunnels of 55 national hyghway are constructed or under construction by the Ministry of Construction in mountainous Shikoku disrict which mainly consists of Paleozoic, Mesozic sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. The writer summerized geological conditions and construction records of these tunnels. There is distinct difference in selection of steel support type of tunnels in Paleozoic and Mesozoic rocks which will be caused by their geological conditions. It is shown that difficulties of construction, containing failures of portal, surface subsidence, caving and squeezing grounds are closely connected with geological feateres of tunnel sites in Shikoku.

高速道路において, 面壁型トンネル坑門に対する運転者の流入抵抗感に関しては多くの議論がある. またこの抵抗感を軽減するためのグラデーション塗装が試みられた例がある. 本研究は, 流入抵抗感の軽減と自然景観への配慮を目的に, グラデーション塗装および今回提案する逆グラデーション塗装によるリメークを行った坑門を対象に, CG動画と実写ビデオによる心理評価実験を行い, 坑門リメークデザインと流入抵抗感・好感度評価の関係を明らかにし, 逆グラデーション塗装によるリメーク手法の有効性を論じたものである.
