A simple degree of freedom dynamic model of variable stroke swash plate mechanisms are proposed attempting to suppress noise and conserve energy of the variable displacement compressors. A dimensionless form of the proposed model enables us to characterize geometric nonlinearities of the mechanisms. Based on this dimensionless form, the authors propose an equivalent design technique by which one can convert a designed specification to another specification having different geometries but producing equivalent dynamics to the original specification.
