The author introduces a record of a village chiefs' assembly (called
Ittohyogisho_??__??__??__??__??_) in three volumes covering the second, third and fourth years of Meiji (1869-1871), preserved in a local family of Irino Village, Higashi-matsuura County, Saga Prefecture, and by using this material tries to clarify the organization and the function of the village chiefs' assembly at that time.
