This study examines the expected tourist behavior and the constraint factors affecting potential inbound tourists for the Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan. Data were collected from overseas attendances (
N=389) at the Twickenham Stadium, the Wembley Stadium, and the Olympic Stadium in London, and Villa Park in Birmingham during the Rugby World Cup in England in 2015. The questionnaire items included demographics, past travel experiences and expected tourist behavior in Japan, and 30 items relating to constraint factors if they plan to go to the RWC 2019 in Japan. The results show the implications for inbound tourist marketing strategy with regard to attending international sports events in the future.
