This paper explores the tsunami damage situation and reconstruction of temples in the Great East Japan Earthquake. As a result of interview researches, it was confirmed that the reconstruction of the temples tended to prioritize the main hall and the priest’s quarters to continue operation, the facilities configuration was separated in the area designated as a disaster hazard area. It was also confirmed that the temples that were considered for relocation would take a long time to decide on the reconstruction site.
