This paper has two intentions. The first one is to take up Salomon Maimon's philosophy as one case of the reception of Spinozism in Germany. This theme is a part of a research program which deals with Spinoza's reception in Western Europe, especially the way his “strange” thought for western world eventually took it's place in the history of Western philosophy. Maimon shows an interesting case of reception of Spinoza's philosophy.
The second is to introduce Maimon who is a marginal man in the history of philosophy and is hardly taken up in the context of the history of Judaism.
In the first half of this paper, we present the general view of Maimon's life （1-1） and confirm his position in the history of german philosophy（1-2, 3）. In the latter half, his relation to Spinozism is discussed（2） especially comparing with Mendelssohn's case（3-1）. Based on this consideration, we try to position him in the history of Spinoza-reception in Germany（3-2）.
Lastly, we suggest the possibility of the thought of Maimon and of the research on him(4).
