Since I was working with academic society journals, I was offerd a position with the University of Tokyo Press when it took over publication of these journals. Having as a background of the antiestablishment movement at the University of Tokyo in the early 1970's, I participated in the founding of the Academic Society Center and have been responsible for the academic aspect of society's affairs and journals in Japan since that time.
While I am concerned with foreign publications including society journals published in English, I am now looking back and reflecting on my entire forty years in scholarly publishing—just as the “internet” age is upon us.
