From the results of the survey for Quarternary iron-sand deposits, distributed in Sanbu-, Kaijo-, Katori-gun, northeastern part of Chiba Prefecture, the writers recongnize some important facts: 1) There are large differences of sedimentary conditions between Naruto formation (sand with iron-sand) and Narita formation which lies on the former. 2) The upper boundary plane of Naruto formation waves gently. 3) And the relation between the feature of the upper boundary plane of Naruto formation and facies changes of Narita formation is very intimate. Then they propose a stratigraphical succession in the northeastern part of Chiba Prefecture as follows: [table]
