観光者が様々な観光形態を求めることになり、「新しい観光」と言われる現象を生み出している。その中でアート・ツーリズムが今後の経済活動に重要な役割を果たすとされている創造的階層の旅行形態として（竹田・陳2012:78）、または地域住民の積極的な関わりを可能とする地域活性化手段として（Klien 2010: 519）期待されている。 　現在日本で最もアート・ツーリズムの取り組みとして注目を浴びているのは香川県直島町とその周辺で開かれる瀬戸内国際芸術祭である。そこで本研究は直島におけるアート・ツーリズムに注目し、観光者と観光産業関係者の特徴と彼らが抱く直島に対する考えを調べる。また、訪れている観光者は、普段どの程度アートに関心を持っているのか、一般観光者層と異なるのか、アート・ツーリズムは観光産業にどのような効果をもたらしたのか明らかにする。   ２．研究対象と方法 　　直島町は1917年に三菱鉱業(現在の三菱マテリアル)の精錬所を誘致し、鉱業の島として繁栄してきたが、銅市場の変化も影響し、精錬場の労働者数とともに直島の人口も1970年代から減少しはじめた。1970年から教育文化施設を島の中心部に集め、「文化ゾーン」を作り出した。1985年、当時の町長と当時の福武書店（現在ベネッセ・コーポレーション）社長の合意に基づいて、島の南部エリアを中心に総合的な観光開発が始まった。直島国際キャンプ場、ホテルと美術館を合体したベネッセハウス、本村地区で展開された家プロジェクト、地中美術館、など、アートを用いて25年をかけた文化・リゾートエリアが直島に誕生し、プロジェクトはその周辺の島にも広がった。その結果、島は現在、北部の産業エリア、中心部の生活・教育エリア、南部の文化・リゾートエリアに別れている。 　現地調査は2012年11月24-25日に観光者、観光産業施設、住民という3つのグループを対象にアンケートを実施した。回答者数は観光者255人、観光産業施設40ヶ所、住民34人であったが、この報告では観光者と観光産業のみ取り上げる。   ３．調査結果 　アンケート調査で把握した限り、直島を訪れる観光者は旅行全体や普段の生活でもアートに強い関心を持つ人、アートとともに自然を楽しむ人、訪れた相手とゆっくり島を歩き回りたい人など様々であり、性別や年齢層による差もみられる。したがって他の観光地とは全く異なる客層を引きつけているというよりは、客層が拡大し、多様化しているといえよう。 　観光産業については地中美術館の開館とそれに伴う観光者数の増加が影響し、2004年以降に島外からの若い人々が移住し、観光産業、特に宿泊施設に取り組む傾向が強まった。しかし、観光者向けのサービス、特に外国人旅行者に対する情報提供などはまだ限られている。外国人の増加に対してもそれほど積極的ではない観光産業従事者が多く、国際観光地としての成長はこれからの課題である。施設管理、サービス、値段がともに高水準であるベネッセの施設に比べると、その他の観光産業は小規模で、個人的で、施設の水準があまり高くなく、そのギャップは大きい。また、彼等はアートに強い関心を持つ、または積極的にアートプロジェクトに関わるようなことがあまりなく、「アート」に対する思いよりも、「島」へのこだわりや、自立して事業を行いたい志向が強いようにみえる。観光産業の成長はアート・ツーリズムの魅力の効果というよりも、アート・ツーリズムを通じて観光地として成功した効果によるところが強いといえる。 Klien, S. To correspond against vacant shops and empty houses as ”stock utilization”, is inevitable in society's degenerate phase, a time when financial resources are scarce. In order to decisively change the regeneration projects that tends to end only with the remediation of the mechanism and the model project, there is no way other than letting the editing skills of the town outstanding, produced by the correcting mechanism of dysfunctional market, and compiling and transmitting information and adequately coordinating various local agents. Even in an economically depressed place, where the population also declines, reinvestment becomes possible to improve the stock value of city infrastructures; by stimulating motivation to join the community with promoting and transmitting the city's attraction, creating a flow of transmigration and new local business. Now I introduce our experience to revitalize the typical depressed urban district, in Ome city, Tokyo.

This report aims to illustrate contemporary Japanese architect's "Thoughts on the Time", which is the thinking of architecture in consideration of the flow of time by investigating design theories on the extension and reconstruction. Firstly the contents of each design theory were analyzed, and several descriptions of "Thoughts on the Time" were extracted. These descriptions were considered in two aspects ; one is the perception of the changes of situation surrounding architecture, the other is the intention of how architecture should be modified. Secondly these two aspects were individually classified into several meanings. Consequently, several characteristic tendencies about "Thoughts on the Time" were founded by investigating the relationship between above two aspects.

 The purpose of this study is to focus on contemporary museum which have free appreciation route, and to clarify the relationship between the route selection and spatial cognition of the viewers.
 As a result, by analyzing the appreciation route of all subjects first, it was possible to classify the appreciation route for each museum. Next, by analyzing of the characteristics of the spatial composition in each museum, both elements to encourage and to hinder route selection revealed. At the end, by analyzing of words and pictures drawn on the sketch map by using an index called "degree of spatial understanding", the relationship between spatial cognition and words in each museum revealed.

Architects encounter a variety of limitations in the processes of design development and construction. From safety concerns to economic challenges, the presence of such limitations is a reflection of standards expected in professional practice that at times restrict design possibilities. However, some architects use these circumstances to their advantage, and in doing so, continuously redefine design conventions. In this research, we will study the design thinking that allows designers to subvert disadvantageous conditions for pioneering, unorthodox outcomes.
