This article discusses about preservation of lighting culture and illuminations in modern architecture that should be conserved for the coming generations. This article also introduces preservation and renovation case studies of facilities in the old residence of the Nishios and the Ikoma Building. Illuminations and electrical facilities in the old residence of the Nishios were installed in the era in which incandescent lamps were becoming widespread. Ikoma Building used to have a very innovative exterior taking advantage of the corner location on the Sakai-Suji, which used to be one of the main streets in the city of Osaka at that time.
