オンデマンド印刷は, 一般的には少部数・短納期のコンピュータを駆使した印刷技術と捉えることができる.ただし, 組版を印刷会社でおこなうことはコスト上問題があり, 多くの場合顧客データをそのまま印刷している.これは顧客と印刷会社間でのソフトウエアの共通認識がなければ困難でもある.機械のマニュアル類をデータベースに蓄積しておき, 必要があり次第印刷するといった本来の意味でのオンデマンド印刷は, それだけで会社が成り立つほど, 多くの需要がある.
出版に目を向けると, 絶版本をスキャニングして蓄積するといった当初の試みは成功しなかったが, インターネット受注による個別の全集製作, 本屋の店頭でのオンデマンド印刷といった試みがなされている. しかし, まだ, 品質的, 価格的には実験段階であり, 商業ベースとして成功しているとは言い難い. 今後, 価格面での競争力向上が鍵だろう.
オンデマンド印刷はコンピュータと密接な関係があり, 印刷機というより情報処理端末である. オンデマンド印刷の前提にはプリプレスのフルデジタル化があり, 今まではこのデータ生成そのものに苦労してきた. CTPの普及とともにフルデジタル化は達成されつつあり, これからオンデマンド印刷の新時代がはじまる. そして最終的にはオフセット印刷の代替品としてではなく, One to Oneマーケティングや弱視者のための大活字本といったオンデマンドでなければならない商品を生みだすことで, 新たな印刷技術として定着するだろう.

In 1881, a social intercourse facility which named Koyo-Kan was established at Tokyo-Shiba-Park. The purpose of this study is to examine the situation and the meaning of social intercourse facilities in Japanese style in the Meiji era. In this paper, I deal with Koyo-Kan as typical of the facilities, then I observe process of establishment and extension of this facility. Besides, I compare with Hoshigaoka-Charyo, and I examine the relation to Cha-no-Yu. In conclusion, (1) the role of this facility changed from public to private; (2) later, this facility was influenced by Cha-no-Yu.

Drive video recorders (DRs) have been installed on a plenty number of the taxicabs in large cities in Japan. This paper discusses how to carry out a detailed traffic accidents analysis using drive video recorder data obtained in Tokyo. The sequential motions of the cars concerned before and after the crash are illustrated throughout a process in the case studies of two traffic accidents. The causes of the accidents are discussed as well as measures to prevent the accidents and the DR data requirements for effective analysis based on the motion picture and the log data recorded by the commercial DRs. This newly-developed approach makes those possible to carry out the reproduction of the accident process, the estimation of the causes and the background factors, and the consideration of the preventive safety measures. It is more effective to make such analysis by using not only the DR data but also the Internet resources such as a map, an aerial photograph and other information. The requirements of DR hardware and DR data for the proper analysis of the accidents were also examined.
