A modeling interview was conducted with Hiroshi Michiwaki, inventor of the “screw that does not loosen”, which has been a challenge for mankind for 2000 years. The purpose of this project is to contribute to the development of human resources who will follow in the footsteps of him and create one invention after another. His daily feelings, thoughts, beliefs, values, sense of mission, identity, and methodology were introduced for beginners. In addition, he himself summarized the 20 steps of invention as “Michiwaki′s Visionary Thinking” to reveal his background and philosophy. Through the interview, it was strongly suggested that (1) emotional education, (2) science education (including metacognitive education), and (3) the development of a society that respects the place of the mind and psychological safety are important to cultivate inventiveness. Cultivating inventive skills based on his visionary thinking could become one of the pillars of future education.
