Natural Disasters not only claim human lives, but also bring great economic losses, therefore have considerable impacts to sustainable development of developing countries. Previously there have been few analysis on the impact of natural disasters in economic terms to developing countries. This paper describes the economic loss by natural disasters in comparison with the national economy and analyzes the natural disaster characteristics in the past several decades in relation to human security parameters and macro economic variables within the perspective of sustainable development and natural disaster reduction. There exists a positive correlation between disaster characteristics and macro economic variables and human development indicators.
