Abstract

In recent years, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and the National Police Agency have been promoting the development of a bicycle-passing space based on roadways, so it is expected that the number of bicycles traveling on the roadway will increase. In order to drive a bicycle on the road, it is important to show intentions (traffic communication) to the overtaking bicycle or the car running behind. Because there is a change of course to overtake bicycles in a limited space and avoid parked vehicles. Therefore, in this study, we conducted a questionnaire survey on bicycle users and car drivers to understand their awareness of traffic communication when overtaking and changing course. As a result, the necessity of traffic communication became clear, and the knowledge for establishing traffic rules.
