The effect of heat treatment against unsporulated or sporulated oocysts of E. krijgsmanni was examined. Unsporulated and sporulated oocysts were exposed at 60°C or 70°C for 5, 15, 30 and 60 sec in water bath, respectively. Then, effect of heat treatment against oocysts was investigated by estimation of the sporulation rate of unsporulated oocysts, and oocyst output from mice after inoculation of heat-treated sporulated oocysts. As the result, no sporozoite formation in treated unsporulated oocysts was observed completely, and sporulated oocysts lost their infectivity to the host after the treatment at 60°C for 60 sec or more and 70°C for 5 sec or more.
