Nano-sazed LiCoO2 was prepared using new method. Cathode of Li-ion cell was fabricated using the Nano-sazed LiCoO2, and the discharge performance was investigated. As a result, it was found that the discharge rate performance was improved by the used of Nano-sazed LiCoO2.

The knowledge for nano-structure of silicate glass under high pressure may give information of new property. In this study, the structural changes of SiO2 and NaAlSi3O8-CaAl2Si2O8 glasses by static and dynamic compressions were investigated. The different compression processes were observed between static and dynamic compressions. These different processes may be caused by the difference of original structures of glasses.

A cathode material for the rechargeable lithium ion battery, LiMn
2O
4, has been studied widely from both aspects of industrial applications and scientific interests. In this study our focus lies on the analysis of lithium diffusion phenomena in the spinel-type LiMn
2O
4 structure from static and dynamic view-points, employing the molecular dynamics simulations. The lithium ion diffuses through the channel formed by oxygen tetrahedra and octahedra centred at 8
a and 16
c respectively. Both the expansion of bottleneck opening (the face shared by the 8
a tetrahedron and 16
c octahedron) and the lowering of Li-Mn Coulomb repulsive energy seem to be essential for lithium diffusion. These factors are strongly correlated with the time dependency of Mn valences. It is supposed that the
eg electron hopping triggers off the lithium diffusion.

We synthesize the perovskite-type oxyfluoride, PbFeO
2F under high temperature and high pressure. By powder X-ray diffraction, it was suggested that the Fe ion in B-site positioned at off-center. According to temperature dependence of dielectric properties, this compound has a high dielectric constant at a room temperature and no obvious discontinuity indicating a phase transition was observed. In a temperature dependence of magnetic moments, the spin-glass like behavior was observed.

The band edge of titanium oxide clusters on porous silica glass shows the blue shift compared to bulk titanium oxide. Titanium tetrachloride was reacted with titanium oxide cluster surface, and following reaction of NH3 gas with chlorine groups (-Ti-Cl) was carried out. The band edge of the resulting product extended to visible region. The doping of nitrogen by surface reaction using titanium tetrachloride and NH3 gas is effective for the preparation of visible light driven titanium oxide clusters and is expected the speculation of the effective structure for absorption of visible light.

In general, reactive sputtering (atmosphere, Ar+O
2) of Ti metal target at low temperature (<200 degree) and high pressure (1.0x10
-2Torr) results in high photocatalytic activity of TiO
2 films.Therefore, most studies are focused upon these sputtering conditions. Recent investigation revealed that similar high activity can also be obtained by RF sputtering of oxide target (TiO
2) in Ar atmosphere. The aim of this work is to cover a wide variety of sputtering conditions (substrate temperature, pressure, the type of target, power, atmosphere, etc.) and to compare photocatalytic activities of TiO
2 films prepared using RF magnetron sputtering.
Crystal structures of the films were measured using X-ray diffraction (XRD). Photocatalytic activity was evaluated using decomposition rate of methylene blue (MB) under UV light (black light) irradiation.
As result, high activities were obtained at the sputtering pressure higher than 200 degree. Photocatalytic activities increased with the sputtering pressure, whereas they were saturated at a certain pressure.
