This study considered the significance of taking photographs in the digital media society. Based on the review on appearances of "Print Club" and digital imaging in the 90's, the problem of art education was extracted. Also based on the analysis of activities of photographers, a possibility of image media utilization in art education was considered. These considerations revealed that taking photos has the following significance for us living in these days. By taking photos, we make an "identification" of what we are. We make a "simulation" of what we can be. And we make a "communication" to strengthen the story which we described by ourselves. To achieve these three actions, "others" are needed for children. However, others who enable children to reflect themselves are absent in the digital media society. Art education has to play the role of others. It is important for art education to practice activities taking photos.
