Abstract

Parents have a variety of concerns regarding their children's adornment. The purpose of this study was to clarify what kind of problems mothers perceive regarding their children's adornment, and to clarify the relationship between the state of these problems and the age of girls. Data were analyzed from a total of 608 cases ranging from preschoolers to junior high school students. The most frequent problem was "wanting to wear the same clothes all the time," followed by "complaining about or not wearing the clothes chosen by the parents." After categorizing the problems, an examination of the relationship revealed a unique pattern depending on the age. It was revealed that not only changes in the environment accompanying the growth of girls, but also factors such as the way parents perceive their daughters as they mature are related to the emergence of the problem.
