Prototypes of the Folding Table Made from Aluminum

Abstract

This research is the first trial in the furniture industry that used the new technology of "post-alumite processing" of an aluminum honey cam panel, and made the trial production of the folding table made from aluminum. The conventional aluminum honey cam panel was using the extrusion-molding material which performed alumite processing beforehand for frame material. Therefore, there were many restrictions of a form. In this research, the aluminum flat bar was used for the frame material of a panel, and it became the structure material of furniture. Next, this aluminum flat bar was shaved and alumite processing was performed in the state of the panel. Therefore, in the conventional technology, expression of the style and detail which were not made became possible.
