Abstract
This research involves design and development of medical measuring instruments, an important research project at "Knowledge Hub Aichi." Operated by the test subject while the subject is seated, this simple device to measure vascular function produces measurements in two minutes. The design process began with determining the basic form from design drawings, followed by repeating a three-stage prototype manufacturing process and experiments with test subjects, and then inspection and verification of each unit. Measurement tests were then conducted at public seminars, with seminar visitors as test subjects. Designers' participation in medical and engineering research has demonstrated the importance of design in the medical field.
