Application of Generic System Design Process to Backpack

Abstract

In this research, SHICATA CO. and Kyoto Women’s University jointly developed a backpack for women based on Generic System Design Process.
In the development of this product, requirements were extracted using techniques such as questionnaire surveys, interview surveys and usability task analyses. Based on these requirements, a structured design concept was constructed and visualized. It is not developed by the conventional method based on the intuition of designers and marketers. Such a systematic approach has made it possible to propose high-quality products.
