Abstract

Medical workers are at risk of becoming infected with COVID-19 from potentially positive patients via aerosol droplets while they perform upper gastrointestinal endoscopies. We have designed an infection prevention system that meets the demands of the medical field. The frame interior is negatively pressurized. Patients can then enter the film and undergo an endoscopy while minimizing the possibility of spreading infectious droplets to medical workers. The film is inexpensive, disposable and easy to use. This will reduce the time spent disinfecting equipment and procedure rooms, thereby lowering operating costs. This protective measure has been quickly designed, tested, verified and made available for implementation through collaboration between engineering, industry and the medical community. Many Medical facilities have already added this precautionary and cost saving system to protect their staff.
