Event Trays Made of Biodegradable Resin

Abstract

Sanwa Shokai Co., Ltd. in Fukui Prefecture (later spun off as NEQAS Co., Ltd) requested us to develop an event tray product in 2021. These trays are used for meals at large outdoor music events popularly held in mountainous areas. The product uses the biodegradable resin based on cellulose acetate, which biodegrades both in soil and water. The product development objective was to create an event tray that addresses environmental issues required by contemporary society. We pursued a shape that would reduce the amount of resin used as much as possible, and finally found a solution that would address both the issues of environmental impact and raw material cost reduction.
