As a trend in recent years, the number of inbound tourists who seek “experience consumption” such as nature appreciation and cultural experiences in rural areas is increasing. For such tourists, it is conceivable to improve the convenience of secondary transportation by providing a means of transportation that does not require a license and allows them to move according to their purpose for sightseeing in rural areas.
This paper introduces an “electrically assisted four-wheeled bicycle” developed as a means of transportation for tours around Jomon historical sites through a government-academia collaboration project between Hokuto City, Yamanashi Pref. and Shonan Institute of Technology (Fig. 1).
