This paper describes a Permian lyttoniid brachiopod species, Eolyttonia tenuis (Waagen 1883), from the Katsura Sandstone in the Sakawa area, Kochi Prefecture, Kurosegawa Belt, southwest Japan. The Katsura Sandstone resembles well in fossil contents and lithology the Upper Permian (Changhsingian) sandstone of the upper Toyoma Formation of Nabekoshiyama in the Kesennuma area, South Kitakami Belt, northeast Japan. The occurrence of E. tenuis from Sakawa is an additional fossil evidence for the correlation between the Katsura Sandstone and the upper Toyoma Formation.
