Abstract
Immunohisto-and immunocytochemical localization of glutathione-peroxidase (GSH-PO) in the ventral prostate of rats were studied. GSH-PO was predominantly localized in the glandular epithelial cells but not in the interstitial tissues. Intracellular localization of GSH-PO in the glandular epithelial cells was mainly observed in the cytosols near endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondria. No reaction products were seen in other cellular components such as mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum. Based on our data, the biological significance of GSH-PO in the rat prostate is discussed.
