Abstract
This research investigates modernization process in architecture and urban planning in Catalonia, led by G.A.T.C.P.A.C. (1930-39). Focusing on actual circumstances of the movement, main driving forces would be unveiled in the point of view - how G.A.T.C.P.A.C. comprehended those national issues and took action.
Lastly, authors reach a conclusion, which illustrates how G.A.T.C.P.A.C. regarded population excess in Barcelona as national issues as well as unawareness of it in public including architects. G.A.T.C.P.A.C. was organized in order to solve such problems by not only proposing urban architectural projects but introducing national situations and case studies from abroad through various media.
