Abstract

This study identified the psychological elements of interpersonal interaction among older women participating in community activities at community spaces, and empirically demonstrated the relationship between the ease of performing activities and the physical environment.

The results showed that psychological elements comprised seven factors, one related to enjoyment and six related to sense of distance. The factors related to sense of distance were identified as physical in nature, signifying closeness, cohesiveness, and maintaining distance. The impacts of these factors were offset, reduced psychological stress, and easy performance of activities.
