Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to clarify the periodicity of maintenance in wooden architectures designated as cultural properties. This study is based on the records of old wooden architectures in Japan. The contents of this paper are as follows. 1. The period of maintenance is about 6〜40 years, and after Meiji period about 20 years. 2. The period of overhaul and partial overhaul is not clear, the period of roofing work is about 30 years and the period of partial repair work and painter's work is short. 3. The period of maintenance in roofing with thatch is shorter than roofinor with metal and roofing tile.
