Abstract
The Architectural/Engineering/Construction (A/E/C) industry in the U.S. is very'fragmented. One of the industry's major problems is communication between professionals. Therefore, computer information integration can play an important role in bridging project participants. More and more A/E/C firms in the U. S. are finding integration to be their most strategic option in meeting increased competition. The objectives of this paper are : To define and describe CIC ; to show the incentives for CIC implementation in the U. S.; to describe practical applications and current status of CIC research in three major A/E/C firms; and to present future trends and directions.
